Söhner Kunststofftechnik as main exhibitor for the first time at Motek 2017
Söhner Kunststofftechnik will exhibit its packaging solutions for workpiece transport on its own exhibition stand for the first time from October 9 to 12 at Motek 2017, the international trade fair for automation in production and assembly, feed technology and material flow. In addition to an extensive workpiece carrier range and load carriers for electronic components, the packaging specialist is also presenting customer-specific solutions for completely automated handling.
Söhner Kunststofftechnik provides the right transport packaging for almost any type of workpiece. The packaging specialist is demonstrating this at Motek 2017 where it will be presenting its load carriers for workpiece transport on its own 45 square meters exhibition stand for the first time. Whether for lightweight or heavy, robust or sensitive workpieces, the company is able to customize workpiece carriers and containers for specific handling functions thanks to various manufacturing methods. With regard to automated handling, Söhner provides a solution with workpiece carriers manufactured using twin-sheet thermoforming that guarantees high-precision loading, excellent guide characteristics and maximum stability in stack management and during transport. A robot cell, for example, demonstrates the advantages that arise as a result for a classic pick-and-place application.
An additional focus of the exhibition appearance of Söhner is professional packaging for electronic components. The ESD packaging protects the sensitive components against damage from electrostatic discharges. Characterized by different surface resistances, this packaging can either be antistatic, discharging or conductive. The graduated conductivities are achieved by adding soot or graphite. The wide product range of Söhner comprises workpiece carriers, containers and stacking boxes from 400 x 300 mm up to 1200 x 1000 mm as well as large load carriers in all standard dimensions.
Furthermore, Söhner will be presenting a packaging solution for battery cell frames that can be completely automated that the company has developed for a customer in the automotive industry. The loading unit consists of a stanchion rack, 15 magazines and a plastic lid. After the loading unit is brought into the manufacturing station, both the handling of the magazines as well as the removal of the cell frames from the magazines are completely automated by robot. The magazines have a precise, dimensionally stable contour and gripper openings with millimeter precision for this. The loading unit achieves a constantly high placement speed and long autonomy times.
